What is public opinion about ban?

Published on Tue, 15 January 2008 5:01 pm

One of the most rigorous discussed problems during the last months is ban that has launched in many states. Even all health departments affirmed in one voice that prohibition of smoking in all public places is the single way to prevent non-smokers of cigarette fume.

The apogees of absurdness was when outdoors lightening up has been prohibited. It can be understood why in inside areas smoking was banned, but why to put veto on smoking in places where the air flows freely? It’s nonsense.

How we should understand the following phenomenon? Is that Cloud of smoke leaved by hundreds of cars less dangerous than smoke of cigs? Although, that fume is not outlawed, but tobacco smoking yes.

More than that, it was stabled fines for lightening up. Governments are working ardently to implement new ordinance that sometimes it impresses the rapidity and efficiency of performance.

There are businesses that have already suffered from ban. Also, there were cases when businesses were constrained to close because of fines or/and diminishing of revenue.

This situation becomes more curious when administrations offer permissions for smoking, but prohibit using of ashtrays. It's absurd that the public must neither support nor tolerate.

Of course, smoking can be banned in enclosed places that are attended by non-smokers. Rights of both parts must be respected. But, when smoking was prohibited outdoors, it looks more as hunting on smokers and gaining of as many fines as possible from them.

Third part of population used to light up. These people have the same rights as everybody. It is not fair to ignore them.

For example in Spain, several businesses gain the authorization to allow inside smoking. It is reasonable to permit usage of tobacco products in an open space.
